2 Week Greek Islands Tour

17th to 30th September

Day 1 Welcome to Kos. We’ll meet this afternoon for a tour briefing followed by dinner together. We have a number of islands to explore on this tour and this will be a good chance to answer any questions that you may still have.

Day 2 After breakfast we head out to visit the archaeological site of Asklepion. We’ll be amazed by the extent of the excavations in a place dedicated to the god of medicine, Asclepios. Hippocrates was a teacher here. We’ll also enjoy a walk through the main town of Kos and visit the Loggia, the castle of the Knights of St John and the Defterdar Mosque. Free for dinner tonight.

Day 3 Lets take a taxi… a water taxi, out to the island of Nisiros. This is a wonderful place…its a volcanic island and the geology and crater are amazing sights. There is a small village on the island, Nikia. We’ll visit it and enjoy lunch in the slightly larger town of Mandraki, where you can visit the small monastery of Panagia Spiliani (Mother of the Cave). The water taxi will get us back to Kos this evening.

Day 4 Today we embark on a fantastic Kos Island tour, taking in the sights and the history. Lunch will be provided in the village of Pylli. Free for dinner tonight.

Day 5 After breakfast we check out of our hotel and we’ll enjoy a speed boat trip out to another island… Patmos! The upper town is historic and gorgeous. Enjoy ambling through its streets and explore the mansion of Simantiri. Dinner together tonight.

Day 6 Today we leave our Patmos hotel and take a ferry to yet another island, Leros. Visiting the Cave of the Apocalypse and St Johns Monastery, we’ll enjoy a relaxed dinner together.

Day 7 Its time to explore the island…. The Agia Marina, a war museum and several small villages are all a part of our itinerary today. You’ll be free for dinner tonight.

Day 8 Again we move on…. this time to the amazing island of Rhodes. With immense city walls and a wonderful market, as well as Ancient Greek sites, there is much to see and do. Today we’ll visit Lake and its medieval castle and enjoy dinner together.

Day 9 Wear some good shoes this morning, we have a walking tour of the Old City and the Grand Masters Palace. This afternoon, you’ll have a little free time to relax and explore on your own… perhaps enjoy a slow long lunch !

Day 10 Another minibus exploration today. The Valley of the Butterflies, the site of Filerimos, a wine tasting and a splendid lunch together, are all on the itinerary. You’ll be free for dinner tonight.

Day 11 This morning, we embark on another boat trip, this time out to the island of Simi. We’ll learn about sponge diving as we discover the islands main town, and visit the splendid Panormitis Monastery.

Day 12 A full tour of the island again today. This time we take in the archaeological site of Kamiros, the small medieval (and spectacular) castle of Monolithos and the historic chapel of St Nicolas Fountoukli. Free for dinner tonight.

Day 13 This morning you have an opportunity to visit the spectacular village and acropolis of Lindos… every photographers dream! Visiting the hot springs at Kallithea, as we return to our hotel for a sumptuous dinner together.

Day 14 The tour is over so we’ll help you get away safely and wish you fond Greek farewells !!

Cost of this tour/vacation is $5950 per person.

This tour is for small groups (4-12), accompanied by 2 guides (for groups of more than 6), travelling in comfortable minibuses (1 or 2 depending on group size), which enable us to get into many places that big buses just can’t. They also provide us with opportunities to ‘dash’ down a country lane to explore something new and unique.... An adventure !

Included: All necessary transportation and admissions whilst you are with me. 13 nights hotel accommodation. All breakfasts, 3 lunches (picnics where I think it could enhance the trip) and 4 dinners.
